History

Pain Resolution Institute has gradually developed over the past 30 years. Founder Michael Evangelho received his Physical Therapy degree from the University of California, San Francisco in 1982. Prior to Physical Therapy school at UCSF, he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Biology at California State University, Fresno. He then did graduate studies in biology while also pursuing a teaching credential. During this process, he became interested in human biology and decided to pursue Physical Therapy. This combination has become significant in that much of what he practices involves human function as it relates to nature and the environment.

Function Restoration

A Different Approach to Health and Wellness

During the six years following  PT school, Michael worked in a variety of  clinical settings and was fortunate to access essentially unlimited continuing education in the Physical Therapy field while working at Ferranti and Jackson Physical Therapy in Fresno, California. This allowed him to attend courses and workshops from some of the best Physical Therapists in the world. As he learned many of the best techniques, he realized none of them alone were sufficient.

In 1989, Michael became a partner at the Center for Orthopedic and Spinal Physical Therapy which was founded a year earlier by Steven Laslovich, PT, and Bryan Bird, PT. He continued to search for methods that would produce better results for patients dealing with pain and dysfunction. Much of his studying focused on the reality that our gravitational environment significantly effects our function, health and well being. As a result, he continued his education reading hundreds of books and articles as well as traveling to places such as Mexico, Australia, and Honduras to observe the foot function of indigenous people. He has also collected and studied hundreds of gait (walking analysis and foot function) videos over time. He has gradually refined his approach over the past several years while helping thousands of patients understand and resolve painful issues. This effective approach to physical treatment is based on sound scientific principles applied in a new way.

After a brief stay in Ohio from 2009-2010, Michael moved back to Fresno and renamed the Center for Orthopedic and Spinal Physical Therapy, “Pain Resolution Institute”  to better fit the approach he had been taking. Also, Michael named this unique treatment approach, “INTERCONNECTED MECHANOBIOLOGY,” because the goal of this approach is to restore the body’s ability to do what is was created to do.

Pain Resolution Institute is located in Fresno, California and is currently the only provider of this unique approach. It serves the greater Fresno area, but many people have traveled from various areas of the state and country to receive our services.
