FAQ

What is Interconnected Mechanobiology (I-MECH)? How does it work?

Interconnected Mechanobiology  is an approach to physical treatment  that helps the body heal and restore itself naturally. I-MECH has two aspects. First is hands-on treatment. This utilizes the the application of skilled and precise pressures applied to the body that can dramatically effect the way you function. Second is addressing how we relate to gravity and absorb force from the ground. We emphasize the importance of proper footwear and custom orthotics as well as exercise and nutrition.    I-MECH  is based on the reality that the human person is a complex being, of which all parts work together as a single unit.  Because our approach has been developed over 30 years, a single paragraph cannot contain the depth and wealth of information on I-MECH. For a more comprehensive explanation of the scientific basis of I-MECH, please Follow our Blog, visit our Learn More section of our website or attend a live class by visiting our Events page. How was I-MECH Developed?

FR was developed as a result of constant searching for better results than what was achieved with more conventional approaches. During his career as a physical therapist,  Michael has continued to passionately study and research the best techniques and methods to address and resolve the cause of pain.  Dedicated to his patients, he has spent thousands of hours continuing his education, reading hundreds of books and articles, and traveled to observe the foot function of indigenous people of Mexico, Australia and Honduras. He has refined this approach over the course of ten’s of thousands of hours by helping thousands of patients understand and resolve pain over the past 30 years.I’ve suffered with chronic pain for many years and I’ve tried everything. Can PRI help me?

Yes! Many of our patients experience resolve from chronic pain, regardless of how long it has lasted. The reason for this is because we address the cause of pain, while many other approaches only treat the symptoms of pain. Can PRI help me avoid joint replacement surgery?

Yes! Understanding the principles behind our approach, we have helped countless people preserve their joints while reducing the degenerative effects of aging. This is based on well established scientific facts of bone and joint physiology.I’m an athlete. Can PRI help me improve my athletic performance?

PRI’s utilization of I-MECH (INTERCONNECTED MECHANOBIOLOGY) can dramatically improve performance by enabling you to move more efficiently. FR is effective for athletes because it identifies function in your body that prevents you from moving as well as you could. These inefficiencies are then addressed to restore better function, thus allowing you to move in a more efficient manner. Learn more by visiting our I-MECH for Athletes page. What is the difference between PRI’s approach to physical treatment and other approaches?

PRI’s approach addresses the cause of pain, while many other approaches address the symptoms of pain. Conventional Approaches will generally perform therapy or use a modality ‘where it hurts.’ If your knee is in pain, your knee will receive treatment or injections. This does not necessarily address what is the cause of this pain. People are surprised to find out that the source and root cause of their pain is not necessarily ‘where it hurts,’ but often times results from tightness, disorder and misalignment in another part of their structure.  Do you accept insurance and Medicare?

We currently do not take insurance but can provide a statement to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Please contact our office at (559) 436-8525 if you have further questions. What should I expect on my first visit?

After filling out the proper paper work (which you can download here, or get from our office) and you’ve set your appointment with our office staff,  you will meet with your therapist one-on-one. During your initial session, you will receive a thorough evaluation and assessment. You can dress in something comfortable, and you will remain fully clothed throughout the session. Our therapists will also evaluate you biomechanically, to analyze your movement and walking patterns. During the hands-on treatment aspect of your session, the utilization  skilled and precise pressures are applied to your body to create what is known as the piezoelectric (pressure electric) effect. This pressure addresses and resolves the cause of pain and helps restore natural order.  Because the body is interconnected, applying skilled pressure to the body  helps restore normal electrical configuration and electric current throughout the body, thus allowing better function on a deep level.
