Postural Dysfunction

Proper posture is very important for several reasons.  The way your body is positioned and moves during daily activities dramatically affects how your body reacts to the forces of gravity. Posture is something that tends to develop gradually over time.  Improper ongoing positions and movement patterns will lead to the development of poor postures, while proper positions and movement patterns maintain good posture throughout life.  Although poor posture is unappealing in appearance, it also has many health implications.  For example, it can cause excessive stress on the joints and tissues leading to pain.  This excessive stress then also leads to excessive degeneration of the joints and tissues.  It may also compromise the internal organs and systems of the body.  It can even have a detrimental effect on cell function. Therefore, the FR approach puts an emphasis on proper physical relationships with gravity and posture.
